Acworth's Beach Season Ends Labor Day. The Rest of the Calendar Just Moves Up the Road.

Acworth Beach closes for the year on Labor Day weekend, September 7. The lifeguard chairs come down, the roped swimming area at Cauble Park empties out, and dawn-to-dusk hours on the 260-acre lake stop meaning much of anything until next April. If that sounds like the end of Acworth's outdoor season, it isn't. Ten minutes away on Cherokee Street, Logan Farm Park is only two-thirds of the way through its 2026 calendar. The farmers market there runs into mid-November. The last Classic Car Cruise of the year hasn't happened yet. The city's book festival is still six weeks out.

That gap matters more than it sounds like it should. Acworth runs on two parks with two different seasons, and if you measure the city by the one that's closing, you'll miss most of what's still coming.

The lake side is winding down

The biggest spectacle of lake summer already happened. Wake United's Surf + Wake Series wrapped its finale, Battle by the Beach, on the shoreline at Cauble Park earlier this month, capping a season built around the lake's calm, wake-free water. That's the tradeoff Lake Acworth makes on purpose: no gas engines allowed, which keeps it a paddler's lake rather than a speedboat lake. The city's last guided kayak tour of the season ran on Lake Acworth this past Saturday, a two-hour beginner-friendly outing that covered basic paddling skills before the water traffic thins out for fall.

The window that's left is short. The swimming beach itself follows a fixed schedule, open from the last Saturday in April through Labor Day weekend, and once that closes, Cauble Park's 25 acres shift back to being a walking-and-fishing spot rather than a swimming one. Boat ramp access for electric motors continues, and the boardwalk and playgrounds don't go anywhere, but the sand, the roped-off swim area, and the reason out-of-town guests get dragged there in July all pause until spring.

Logan Farm Park doesn't run on the lake's clock

Here's the part that catches people off guard: Logan Farm Park, the 140-acre green space the city expanded on Cherokee Street back in 2016, has its own separate rhythm, and it's a longer one.

The Historic Downtown Acworth Farmers Market runs Friday mornings from April 10 through October 30, and Saturday mornings from May 16 through November 14, both 8 a.m. to noon. Three Saturdays are skipped on the calendar (July 25, October 17, and November 7), but the run itself still stretches the market past the beach by more than two months.

The Classic Car Cruise follows the same park but a different pattern entirely: three dates a year, not a season. Spring landed on May 30, summer hits August 29, and the final cruise of 2026 rolls in on October 31, all 2 to 7 p.m., all at Logan Farm Park. Over 200 cars typically show up, everything from Chevy Chevelles to Model T Fords, and it's free to watch. If you want to enter a car, it's a five-dollar donation, and every dollar goes to Horizon Field, the city's all-inclusive sports facility for kids and adults with disabilities. It's a small detail, but it's the kind of thing that tells you what a car show is actually for in a town this size.

What's already on the fall calendar

None of this is speculative. The dates are set, which means you can plan around them now instead of finding out in October that you missed something.

The Book & Storytelling Festival is run by Acworth Cultural Arts and pulls in more than 40 local and regional authors along with professional storytellers, a format the city has kept consistent for several years running. The Fall Craft Market at The Hyde Out is a newer addition to the rotation, a monthly Saturday market that debuted earlier this month rather than waiting for the traditional fall festival season to kick off.

Put the dates next to each other and the pattern is obvious. Lake season is short and finite. Park season stretches from spring through late fall, and it doesn't slow down just because the beach closed.

Where to land afterward

None of this requires driving far. Downtown Acworth sits close enough to both parks that a farmers market morning or a car cruise afternoon can end with dinner three minutes away.

Red Top Brewhouse on South Main Street keeps a rooftop porch and a fire pit going and welcomes dogs, which makes it a reasonable stop after a Saturday at the market. TapTown and 1885 Grill have been fixtures of the downtown dining scene for years, part of what the city itself credits with turning a few blocks of Main and Cherokee Streets into a real destination rather than a pass-through. Scoops Ice Cream and Tasty Treats is one of the newer additions, opened by Erin and Dave LaBelle in a building that spent 50 years as a doctor's office. If you want something quieter than a brewery porch, Bizarre Coffee Company on Cherokee Street is an easy stop before or after either park.

None of this is ranked. It's just what's there, within walking distance of both the farmers market and the car cruise, on the same streets the city spent the better part of two decades investing in.

The takeaway for anyone who lives here

Labor Day weekend will feel like an ending if you only track it by the beach. Acworth Beach closes, the sand empties out, and the lake goes back to being a place for kayaks and quiet mornings rather than a summer swim destination. But the city's civic calendar doesn't follow the lake's schedule. It follows Logan Farm Park's, and that one runs another two and a half months past Labor Day, through a final car cruise on Halloween and a farmers market that doesn't wrap until the middle of November.
